Sekkingstad AS has been trading salmon and other seafood products for more than 80 years.
1923 Konrad Sekkingstad founded his trading company in 1923. He bought fish and shellfish from local fishermen and sold it at the local fish market in Bergen. 1953 Magne, Konrad's oldest son took over the running of the business when Konrad died. Together with his brothers he expanded the activity to include imports and exports of fish and shellfish. A canning factory was also built in this period. Canned products were herringmilk, lobster, crab and mackerel. Processed and iqf prawns became was also a sucessful product. 1965 Magne and his brothers were among the first to start farming of trout and later salmon. During the 1980s, harvesting, processing and export of salmon developed as the main activity. 1989 Magne's three sons; Konrad, Dag and Bård took on the family business in 1989.
